b. Rhode Island, USA 1929
May I please introduce to you Harlan Berkely Peabody, Jr, PhD - scholar, linguist and turtle. The study of the techniques of the oral tradition - with particular emphasis on epic ballads - was Dr. Peabody's area of interest. Berkely made significant contributions to our understanding of how writing changed the way our minds work. While the real life Dr. Peabody had a great talent and affinity for the church organ, in my reinvention of this splendid individual he favours the lute for its portability.

Berkely is a very long limbed turtle, quite unusual for his species. His unique physiology make him a natural for yoga and it's myriad positions - although upon occasion his shell does present a hinderance. He is constructed from: aluminium armature, found doll pieces, wadding, merino wool, fabric and flocking.
